We are looking for a Band 7 Clinical Scientist to join our clients NHS Biochemistry Department for an on-going locum position.

The successful Clinical Scientist will be required to:
-Validate and release clinical biochemistry results. To instigate any necessary actions consequent on their release, e.g. discussion with clinical staff, advice, suggestions and the instigation of further investigations.
-Provide (with others) a highly specialised advisory service in all aspects of Clinical Biochemistry to the trust, the PCT and other external bodies as appropriate.
-Contribute to the planning and implementation of changes and modifications to analytical methods, policies and protocols in the laboratory.
-Participate in the investigation and correction of problems revealed by quality procedures.

To be considered for this Biochemistry job you must:
-Demonstrable post registration experience with specific experience working as Duty Biochemist
-Have appropriate knowledge of human biochemistry and metabolism
-Thorough knowledge of routine and specialised analytical methods and quality assurance.
-Basic knowledge of managerial processes and structures within the NHS.
-Knowledge of the principals and application of Clinical Governance and Clinical Audit
-Be computer literate and familiar with modern software packages

Requirements:
-Honours degree in a relevant science subject.
-Possession of health professions council (HCPC) registration as a Clinical Scientist.
-MSc in Clinical Biochemistry, or equivalent level of knowledge and expertise as assessed by National Assessors
-PhD in Clinical Biochemistry desirable
-Part 1 FRCPath in Clinical Biochemistry or working towards desirable
