Essential Skills:
-- Strong Database Skills (Oracle/Teradata)
-- Efficiently query very large data volumes of data
-- SQL query performance tuning
-- Adhere to development and data quality standards
-- Experience with OLAP tools.
-- ETL Tool preferably Ab Initio, Datastage, Informatica, Pentaho PDI
-- Ability to work closely with stakeholders from various teams within the company.
-- Data Warehousing skills (Kimball)
-- BI Development & Consultancy
-- Scripting, Bash, AWK, ssh, sFTP
-- Cognos/Business Objects
Desirable Skills:

Responsibilities of the Role:
-- The position will involve aspects of design, development, testing, business analysis and impact analysis.
-- Ideally candidate must have the ability to move and access freely on a database which is based on a Unix platform. Candidate must be familiar with writing queries and loading tables
-- Ideally the candidate will have the ability to use Datastage or Ab Initioto to extract data from source and deliver it to target.
-- Scripting: previous experience with Shell Scripting would be a distinct advantageReporting will be done through either Cognos or Business Objects so familiarity with these tools will be required.
-- Business Analysis: Meeting the stakeholders to elicit the business requirements is a core requirement of this role. Such meetings may involve large to smaller groups sometimes led by a project manager and clear communication is essential to obtaining a clear picture of what is required.
-- Interpreting business requirements: bridging the gap between business elements & IT/(BI) aspects is important aspect of the position to ensure success in this position.
-- Once sourced data is identified the contractor will work with internal Business Intelligence team to model the data and make relevant changes.
-- Ad-hoc data analysis may be required.
-- Collaboration skills with stakeholders and fellow team mates is required.
-- Datamodelling will be used to represent the elements of data that have been identified for change/move and the full normal life cycle will be followed until the change has been delivered.
