We are currently looking for an experienced Mainframe developer to join a large Government Department for an initial 6 months contract.

In this position you will be responsible for:

  • Designing, constructing and testing software solutions in a TELON/Cobol/CA GEN 7.n or 8.n programming environment to meet business requirements
  • Delivery of technical documentation;
  • Collaboration with business representatives, business analysts, system testers and other stakeholders to develop software solutions that meet business requirements; and
  • Provide consultation on design proposals

Skills/experience:

  • Extensive experience in developing software in a CA Gen 7.n or 8.n environment
  • Highly developed coding skills in TELON/Cobol programming language and knowledge of using SAS are highly desirable.
  • Experience in maintenance and/or the development of large software systems within a large IBM Mainframe environment;
  • Experience in the design and development of large scale Mainframe systems;
  • Experience in the resolution of Mainframe system problems, with an emphasis on production support problems;
  • DB2. (in particular database interrogation/update skills using SQL via Princeton/Platinum/SPUFI and submitted jobs); and/or
  • Experience with Tax Office systems.

Due to security clearance requirements for this role, candidates must be AUSTRALIAN CITIZENS who currently hold or are able to gain a PROTECTED (BASELINE) security clearance.
