Job Title: Computer Systems Analyst

Type: Contract- 12 Months

Location: Birmingham, AL (downtown)

Our client is seeking a Computer Systems Analyst for a 12 month contract position in downtown Birmingham, AL. The Computer Systems Analyst is responsible for the monitoring and front line diagnosis and problem resolution of the critical computer systems and infrastructure. These systems include GenComm, CES, TREND, TRADER, Admiral, Ascape, GDAQ, Real Time Pricing (RTP), and many others. This position is part of the 24x7x365 staff of the Critical Systems Desk that provides frontline communications, monitoring, support, diagnosis, resolution and coordination with IT Generation personnel for second tier support.

Responsibilities:

  • Day to day monitoring of the client's critical systems and Real Time data for health and availability. Provide data quality assurance and data correction.
  • Front line problem resolution and second level escalation coordination.
  • Provide problem ownership and coordination with other support groups along with communicating updates as needed.
  • Administer certain after-hours maintenance and planned outages.
  • Provide desktop support after normal business hours and weekends.
  • Notification of key customers for the coordination of system outages and events that may impact critical areas.
  • Provide input to the team Supervisor on continual process improvement and customer feedback.
  • Thoroughly track and document cases to completion with the help of IT Generation personnel to aid in metrics and reporting.
  • Participate in the maintenance and testing of Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery processes.

Requirements:

  • A four year college degree with a major in Computer Science, MIS or related field.
  • Ability to follow and properly apply both IT Generation Change Management and Critical Systems Desk procedures.
  • Fundamental knowledge of Windows based operating systems required.
  • Fundamental knowledge of Solaris or other UNIX based operating systems preferred.
  • Fundamental knowledge of relational database systems like SQL Server, Oracle and Sybase and query languages is preferred.
  • Fundamental knowledge of distributed computer networks including but not limited to: Routers, Switches, hubs and Firewalls.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends as a part of rotating shifts.
