Description

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

  • Report to the Assistant Manager, Information Technology Systems.
  • Provide hardware/software support to our client's staff (approximately 100 users ).
  • Work with internal and external staff to diagnose and resolve IT issues.
  • Implement IT projects within the office (may involve configuration, programming, installation of new hardware/software solutions, supporting in-house software solutions etc.)
  • Plan and coordinate roll-outs of new software/hardware within office
  • Ensure ITS requirements are met and adhered to.
  • Provide timely and professional resolution to a user's request for service (technical tickets).
  • Create and maintain documentation (day-to-day operations, software, hardware, network etc.)
  • Maintain hardware inventory (laptops, projectors, etc.)
  • Assist as a network administrator in a backup capacity
  • Manage user's access to IT services (account creation/modification/deletions)
  • Assist with internal email support (configuration of the email client on individual machines, managing project accounts, setting up listserv (distribution lists), and configuring ticket system instances)
  • Backup admin for the office Servers (web, domain controller, etc.)
  • This position requires lifting/moving of equipment

KEY SKILL SETS REQUIRED:

  • Ability to diagnose PC desktop, laptops, printer, and scanner issues
  • Great customer support and people skills.
  • Experience with PC and Microsoft Windows XP and Windows 7. For Servers, Windows 2003 and 2008.
  • Can Troubleshoot a variety of issues - desktop, laptop, application, operating system, server, network etc.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
Requested Education:

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline (or equivalent training and experience).

Requested Experience:

  • Minimum 2-5 years of experience in a technical support role, preferably in a university environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing small and large scale technical infrastructure related projects (setup, installation, and servicing of personal computers and software support).
  • Software skills required (Microsoft Office 2003 to 2010 - Word, Excel, Access, Adobe).
  • Programming skills required (HTML, SQL, PHP, JavaScript, Visual Basic).
  • Experience in Microsoft Office 365 and Microsoft SharePoint is an asset.
  • Excellent customer service, problem solving skills, ability to work effectively in teams and analytical skills are required.
  • Novell support at the desktop level.
  • Windows server 2003 and/or 2008 admin level experience - setup, support, and troubleshooting.
