Description
The Mask Layout/Tape Out Office main responsibility is to make sure first silicon (chips) for new products are delivered fast and without incidents to support time-to-market requirements. The Tape Out Office is a central organization within which handles all tape outs (chip designs) from any design team (world-wide) to any fab/foundry in the world, including the internal fabs.The section Operations within organization consists of several seamlessly connected units, working together to deliver best-in-class industrial capabilities. These units carry out key activities in the design-to-manufacturing chain, The Operations organization includes fully-owned wafer fab sites and assembly and testing locations in Asia, Europe and the United States as well as manufacturing Joint Ventures with external partners.
The Mask Layout/The Tape Out Office takes care of:
-Checking quality of incoming chip design layouts (design rule checks, manufacturability checks)
-Translate electrical chip designs into manufacturing designs and orders resulting master plates (reticles or photo masks).
-Planning, monitoring, and reporting of prototyping status
-Filling fab/foundry systems with the appropriate data required to run the correct wafers with the right photo masks
Job Description:
-The tape out engineer is a team player who pro-actively communicates with internal and external relations: customers, suppliers, wafer fabs and process experts.
-He/she will handle tape outs of product layouts provided by design teams. This entails doing chip finishing, verifying product layout and photo mask data, ordering photo masks, introducing the product in the fab and managing MPWs.
-Next to this, the tape out engineer discusses on technical level with colleagues in the fab/foundry on photo mask-related subjects. Photo mask supplier management and - qualification may also be part of the job.
-The tape out engineer will be leading improvement projects within the tape out office that lead to improved service to the design teams.
-Finally, the tape out engineer will have a strong involvement with maintenance and extension of supporting IT systems dedicated for the Tape Out Office.
Requirements:
-HBO level
-Electrical Engineering/Physics/Computer Science
-Relevant knowledge on Chip Finish-, Photo Mask/Reticle- and Stepper/Scanner-technologies or willingness to learn
-Relevant knowledge on Windows, Linux, Office and e-CAD tools or willingness to learn
-Basic knowledge of semiconductor process technology production processes, or willingness to learn
-Able to work within and lead projects
-Accurate
-Good communicator
-Experience and affinity with wide range of IT systems/tools/programming environments
