Role: Quality Engineer
Location: Darwen, Lancashire
Pay Rate/Salary: Neg hour/annum

Assystem are working closely with a world leader in Aerospace Structural Composites who's customers include; Boeing, Airbus, BAE Systems, EADS, Agusta Westland and Hawker Beach Craft.

Overall Purpose:

The Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all quality systems and associated accreditations and approvals are maintained and that manufacturing projects are supported from a quality engineering perspective.

Principal Responsibilities:

Management and Leadership

-Liaison with other functions to ensure integrated approach to configuration control, change management and product life cycle management
-Liaising with procurement function to ensure effective supplier quality assurance
-Developing initiatives that will support the effectiveness of the quality function
-Maintain discipline, morale and harmonious relationships among peers and colleagues

Operational Output:

-Maintenance of the MRB System
-Maintenance of the Audit Systems
-Maintenance and development of third party, regulatory and customer approvals
-Creating and maintaining identified KPIs necessary for the quantitative sustainment of the quality function
-Installation of standard systems of working in respect of product and process compliance
-Supporting continuous improvement Initiatives including Six Sigma , VMKC , FMEA , SPC and liaising with the
Continuous Improvement Manager
-Supporting initiatives to evolve the nature of quality control, inspection plans, delegated authorisation and verification activities
-Verifying manufacturing processes and aiding qualification of new processes
Health, safety and environment
-Uphold processes that assure the effective health, safety and environmental best practices as defined by the Kaman HSE management system.

Key skills, Knowledge and Experience:

The factors listed below are all desired requirements of the role.

-Experience of working in a quality role in a related field
-Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
-Technical writing experience
-Analytical and judgement skills
-Mathematical ability to compile and calculate statistical analyses
-Knowledge of manufacturing methods, quality system design and documentation
-Quality management system development and implementation

-A full understanding of:
AS EN 9100 & BS EN 9001 quality management systems
Maintaining EASA Part 21G and Part 145 Expositions
Nadcap process approvals for relevant processes (Composites, NDT and Chemical Processing)
