Control System Engineer

CCFE is one of the world's leading fusion research laboratories. The scientists and engineers are working with partners around the globe to develop fusion as a new source of clean energy for tomorrow's power stations.
Working in partnership with CCFE, we are looking to recruit a Control System Engineer to work within the Remote Handling Unit.

Main responsibilities

* Modification and maintenance of control software for the RH tool controllers.
* Preparation for operations of the remote handling major control and video systems.
* Analysis, modelling and optimisation of multi-variable servo control
* Design, specification, implementation and development of control systems
* Specification, design, coding, implementation of real time control software for an advanced Master-Slave Force Reflecting Servo-manipulator.

Aptitudes and experience

* Degree in Control Systems engineering or a related field.
* The appointee must be prepared to work shifts or be on a rostered on-call as required.
* Design and practical implementation of electro-mechanical control systems/motion control.
* Programming with real time software for control of servo-actuator systems, OS/9 and VxWorks
* Mathematical modelling and optimisation of servo systems
* Implementation of Delta-Tau PMAC motion controllers or similar
* Implementation of VME based control systems and digital signal processors (DSP's)
* C, C++ languages and the principles of real-time control
