Mechanical Fitter

A Mechanical Fitter with a valid fork lift truck counter balance license, is required to work on a 6 month contract for a large rail company in Manchester. You will be required to work 40 hours a week, on rotating day & night shifts and the pay rate for the role is 15.25 per hour.

Applicants will need to have previous experience of working on either: rolling stock, aircraft, HGVs , buses , coaches, army vehicles etc.

Reporting to the Production Cell Team Leader, you will be responsible for the repair & modification of customer railway equipment. .

You will be required to:-

* Build railway equipment assemblies in line with drawing and process specification
* Operate as a member of a work team, as the role of that work team requires
* Participate in Company Initiatives, in particular to be engaged in Continuous Improvement (Kaizen) activity
* Submit problem sheets which detail solutions to problems / issues encountered on work being undertaken
* Provide on the job training to less experienced colleagues as requested
* Maintain good housekeeping within the working area
* Operating a fork lift truck.

Key skills and requirements for the role include:-

* Time-served apprenticeship in a relevant discipline
* Must hold a valid counterbalance fork lift truck license.
* Solid experience of Traction System products
* Able to act as a member of a multi-disciplined team
* Developed analytical and problem solving skills
* Strong interpersonal skills
* Work on own initiative where required
* Good judgement and decision-making capability
