An opportunity has arisen for an experienced automotive engineer with experience of developing lock and latch systems to join a prestigious automotive OEM in the West-Midlands.

Department: Product Development, Body Engineering

Based: Gaydon, Warwickshire

Reporting to: Lead Engineer - Latch Systems

Job Purpose:

To design and develop lock and latching systems for future vehicle programmes.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks:

*Assist with benchmarking Aston Martin and competitor wash/wipe systems.
*Support preparation of design briefs and targets for all new components.
*Develop compatible designs from initial concept to production release, in conjunction with Design, Quality, Manufacturing, Purchasing and suppliers.
*Apply failure mode avoidance tools and processes (DoE, DFMEA, DFA etc).
*Support Virtual Series events through to FDJ.
*Support completion of engineering releases to the highest quality and in time.
*Support DV test plan with representative prototype components.
*Ensure PD concerns are resolved to the highest quality and in time.

Qualifications and Experience:

*Engineering degree (or equivalent).
*Previous experience in automotive body engineering.
*A working knowledge of component manufacturing and tooling requirements.
*Intuitive knowledge of fundamental engineering theory.
*CAD literate (ideally user), preferably IDEAS/NX.
*Self-starting and self-motivated.
*Good organisational skills.
*Driving licence essential.
