Position: SQL Server DBA

Duration: 6months + Contract Opportunity (great potential for long term contract)

Location: Atlanta (Downtown)

Synergis is recruiting for a SQL Server DBA (Production DBA) for our client in downtown Atlanta. The SQL Server DBA role will maintain, modify, and create database structures. The Database Administrator will also design, code, test, and implement databases by applying knowledge of database design standards and database management systems. This role will also design and code database parameters.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement backup, archival, recovery, and high availability solutions.
  • Guide and coordinate OS level upgrades, security patching, etc. for database Servers.
  • Contribute to standards and guidelines for the database management system and supporting software.
  • Demonstrates problem-solving skills.
  • Review and give advice concerning database CALL patterns used in application programs.
  • Maintain a competent level of technical knowledge about database management systems, programming fundamentals, programming languages, and structured techniques.
  • Perform project tasks to ensure that associated deliverables are completed in a timely manner.

Required Skills:

  • 3 to 5 years of operational database support in a production environment preferred
  • SQL Server 2008 experience.
  • Sharepoint experience
  • Operational and Production support experience with On-call duties.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Windows server operating systems (namely Windows 2003)
  • Experience with LiteSpeed, LogShipping, SQL Server Replication, Data Mirroring, failover clustering and Windows clustering
  • Advanced understanding of DBMS concepts/vocabulary.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal & written) with the ability to communicate technical issues and concerns with users.
  • Strong attention to detail/accuracy.
