SHORTERM GROUP ARE CURRENTLY RECRUITING FOR THE FOLLOWING:

JOB TITLE: 12 x Mechanical Technicians
JOB LOCATION: Crewe
HOURLY RATE:11.28 PAYE / 14.17Ltd plus overtime
DURATION:12 Month contract
HOURS PER WEEK:37 Hours per week
START DATE:1st week of January 2013

Job Overview

Based within the Rolling Stock industry (Trains) we are currently recruiting for 12 Mechanical Technicians to operate out of a Rolling stock depot based in Crewe, to carry out the Mechanical Overhaul of Rail Bogies.

Job Profile:

Candidates will be required to carry out the following duties:

Mechanical Overhaul of Rolling Stock to include:
-Bogie overhaul, damage repair and engineering
-Wheel set overhaul, repair and analysis
-Bogie chassis, damage repair and clean
-Gearbox overhaul, repair and analysis
-Bogie and gearbox engineering / repair
-Wheel exchange on wheel sets
-Re-profiling of wheel sets and wheels
-Bearing, axle and wheel mounting
-TBU revision and replacement
-Components and sub assemblies overhaul repair and analysis
-Re-engineering and production of spare parts
To undertake all types of Mechanical, repair and replace on Rolling Stock to ensure that we provide our customer with a reliable, safe and defect free train.

The Service Technician will be responsible for ensuring that any maintenance they have undertake at the depot is done so in accordance with the companies safety regulations.

The position of Service Technician is a key Safety Critical position and is a requirement against the Service Agreement (SA). This position is the key focal point for the safe and reliable running of the fleet of Rolling stock.

Compliance with all laid down H&S legislation and depot procedures to ensure a safe accident free environment.

Responsible for keeping the work area clean and tidy and to the highest standard at all times

Co-operate with management in all matters relating to Health and Safety

Advise of any defects/deficiencies in equipment/arrangements that could compromise the Health and Safety of themselves and others

The Service Technician may be called upon to perform duties that the Outstations Coordinator deems necessary to protect the business interests.

Person profile:

Knowledge and experience

You will be a highly self-motivated individual, able to work under your own initiative.
You will possess excellent communication & interpersonal skills.
You will need extensive all-round knowledge of Mechanical Engineering
You will ideally have knowledge of modern rolling stock systems,
You will ideally have experience of Train depot operations.

Please note that this role is based in a Rolling stock depot, therefore the environment is heavy industrial working environment.

Qualifications required

Candidates MUST be time served and apprentice trained with the relevant mechanical papers. If you cannot provide your apprenticeship papers then please DO NOT apply.
Applicants, who can provide a letter from a previous employer stating that you have served your time for them or completed an apprenticeship with them, will be considered.

Candidates from the following industries will be considered:

Mechanical Technician
Heavy Mechanical background
HGV Technician
Ex Forces Mechanical Technician Tanks/ Excavators
Heavy Plant Technician such as JCB / HGV / TRAINS

PLEASE NOTE: All candidates must be able to complete and pass a drugs & alcohol test. All candidates must be available to interview week commencing 3rd December 2012.
