Our Client based in Kendal is Europe's leading coloured and specialist paper manufacturers have a rare and exciting opportunity for Electrical Project/Manager
Job Purpose:
To be the Electrical Engineer for the Project Engineering Team providing Electrical and Process Control Technical input and support to the Team and to carry out a portfolio of Electrical/Process Control Engineering Projects for the site.
Key Accountabilities:
* To manage Electrical or Process Control capital projects or improvements on behalf of our clients PLC.
* Supports the Project Engineering Team being the Electrical Engineering expert for the Team.
* Resolves Electrical Engineering and Process Control problems on Capital Projects for the site.
* Designs and specifies Electrical and Process Control Equipment for new capital and improvement projects.
* Carries out electrical and process control installation work as appropriate utilising hands-on approach and skills, and managing other resources to meet immediate needs.
* Carries out capital investment Electrical Projects from the identification and specification of needs state, through to full integration into manufacturing and service processes.
* Ensures all statutory requirements and site standards are complied with in the work that the jobholder does, including Health & Safety, environmental, standardisation of equipment and spares, documentation etc.
* Provides training as required on new and modified equipment for the relevant site personnel on new and modified installations
* Organises and manages internal and external engineering resources to meet business needs on his allocated portfolio of projects, this is to include electrical and process control engineering on major multi discipline capital projects.
* Provides Electrical and Process Control Engineering expertise and support across the full site when required.
* Covers for Engineering Project Managers when required, this can include holidays and working on a weekend roster.
Education:
* HNC/D qualifications or equivalent (Electrical)
Job Knowledge
Requires an understanding of their own job including:
* Trained in electrical/process control engineering discipline.
* Experienced in mechanical engineering skills.
* Carries out technical detail and project planning on Capital Projects
* Knowledge and understanding of maintenance requirements of plant and equipment to be installed on projects.
* Knowledge and ability to use a computerised maintenance management system.
* Understands and implements safety and environmental legislative requirements relating to plant and equipment installed on projects.
* Ability to write maintenance plans for equipment being installed on projects.
* Competent in SCADA systems and PLC programming and diagnostics.
* Knowledge of Papermaking and Paper Conversion processes.
* Knowledge of Electrical Power Generation and Distribution.
* IT skills in hardware and networking.
Requires the following supporting skills for the job:
* Competent in use of site software packages i.e. Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, Lotus Notes, Idhammar Maintenance Management System, AutoCAD etc.
* Hands-on engineering skills.
* Understands and manages budgets on allocated portfolio of projects.
* Understanding of cost implications of engineering work.
* Maintenance effectiveness monitoring techniques.
* Competent in quality management systems.
* Contractor Control.
Requires an understanding of other areas of the mill including:
* Planning of project installations in conjunction with manufacturing schedules.
* Understanding Purchasing and Stores systems and methods.
* Technical and Quality departments.
* Operational Engineering Maintenance Departments across site.
* The Boiler house and CHP Plant.
* Electrical Generation and Distribution networks.
Communication:
* Good verbal/listening skills are needed in the role when gaining agreement with both customer and supplier key stake holders on projects, in relation to agreeing requirements definition (agreement of SoR).
* Takes Team Leader role for his portfolio of projects and Electrical/Process control sub team on multi-discipline projects.
* Communication is also important in providing training in the implementation of process changes, safety improvements and other regulatory requirements.
* Contributes to Project Team meetings including Safety and Projects Process Improvements teams.
* Computer skills are fundamental in the use of project planning, parts and materials planning, maintenance management systems.
* Ability to influence operators and other key personnel in dealing with projects, maintenance and engineering safety, reliability and improvement issues.
* Must have good written skills in order to be able to write complex and or comprehensive reports, method statements, risk assessments and safe systems of work, training packages, and capex documentation including Statements of Requirements etc.
* be able to interpret complex technical specifications relating to plant and systems.
Problem Solving and Decision Making:
* Analyses drawings, technical manuals, engineering proposals, to ensure best solution is achieved to cost, time and quality requirements of projects.
* Routinely handles complex technical Electrical and Process Control issues, finds and implements solutions.
* Solves non-routine engineering problems that require investigation and analysis.
* Needs to be able to make difficult technical decisions with a minimum amount of information and time and present solutions as they arise.
* Allows for contingency planning to cover different eventualities.
* Seeks technical assistance when required.
* Adapts methods and equipment to suit projects requirements and changing circumstances.
* Takes project risks with knowledge of worst case scenarios, managing the project to reduce risk to acce
