Role Summary:

This is a fantastic opportunity for a number of highly skilled Fatigue and Damage Tolerance (F&DT) Stress Engineers to join a leading Engineering firm with a very strong presence in the Aerospace & Defence sectors. You will join a highly professional skilled Team of Engineers that provide a range of services and expertise to their clients ranging from Design & Structural Engineering, Stress Engineering, Fatigue & Damage Tolerance, Manufacturing Engineering, and Project & Programme Management.

Role description

We are looking for a number of highly skilled F&DT Engineers join our expanding teams in Bournemouth & Bristol. We have a very exciting range of projects that will be launch in 2013. You will be involved in both the technical and project leadership aspects of our work.

Responsibilities will include;

-Stress and structural analysis across a variety of cutting edge projects
-Use of a range of stress analysis tools
-Strong working knowledge of Nastran and Pastran and ANSYS
-Understanding of Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
-Checking/validating preparation of Global FEM & refined FEM models for the usage by operational teams.
-Checking & validation of F&DT structural analysis reports for metal parts.
-Contributing towards the company Quality Assurance procedures
-Liaising with customers and suppliers

Requirements & skills

The ideal candidate will have the following;
-Degree qualified in Mechanical or related subject or have equivalent experience.
-3-5 years' experience in Fatigue & Damage Tolerance (F&DT)
-Understanding how are working aircraft structures and or other lightweight structure. Ability to determine the best balance between the different load bearing structures of an aircraft.
-Understanding of the loading of the structural components generated by operations.
-Knowledge of fracture mechanics. Knowledge of spectrum building and processing
-Knowledge of internal Airbus methods and tools for the F&DT sizing of metal structures.
-Knowledge of maintenance process and impact on Damage tolerance analysis.
-Experience gained in Ability to perform static and fatigue and damage tolerance sizing of metal structure.
-Experience gained in Ability to perform analytical stress calculations using industrial standard methods i.e.:HSB/ESDU.
-Working knowledge of NASTRAN/PATRAN.
-Knowledge of certification process of aircraft components and understanding of stress relevant Airworthiness regulations.
-Good knowledge of working with and applying modern calculation programmes (linear and non-linear FEM programmes). Know the capabilities and also limitations of FEM applied to aircraft structures. Ability to model CFRP parts utilizing common FEM tools.
