Key Accountabilities

-To develop technical solutions which are compliant with all relevant requirements, within agreed programs, timescales and manufacturing constraints.
-To ensure design compliance by appropriate analysis in accordance with GKN internal policies, procedures and work instructions.
-To work in co-operation with other functional areas of the company to achieve local and overall business objectives.
-Skilled in tools such as CATIA V5, Nastran, Patran, Windchill,
-To provide solutions to meet airworthiness standards and design approvals
-To provide concession support to existing and future production platforms
-Experience in metallic and/or composite aerostructures
-Experience in Damage, Fatigue & Tolerance (FD&T) based activities..

Person Specification
Essential:
-Health and Safety Awareness
-B/QMS Awareness
-Fundamental knowledge of the principles of Mechanical Engineering, particularly Structures.
-Understand the role of other Engineering Departments and their interaction with the Stress Office.

Developing an understanding of :-
- Detail Stress Analysis techniques.
- Applicable airworthiness requirements
- Software analysis tools
- Selection criteria for materials & processes
- Applicable airworthiness requirements
- Application of design cases & load factors
- Structural testing methods and results interpretation.
- Ability to prepare clear concise documentation
- Familiarisation with local work instructions
- Ability to work effectively within a team
- Be able to work to an agreed time scale
- Resolve problems independently wherever possible.
- Communicate clearly and effectively

Skills, Experience and Qualifications
Essential:
- BSc or HND on Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering
Desirable:
- Working towards achieving Corporate membership of an appropriate Professional Engineering Institution
