Description

A Software Developer is required to work on a number of software development projects to produce "plug ins" for ScotXed's data collection platform - ScotXed is an exchange of educational data. Your role will also encompass providing support for the platform and the solutions you develop.
Essential skills/experience required:
Focused on making a positive difference to our internal and external customers by delivering great service and software solutions.
Excellent software development experience with relevant technologies, particularly C#
.Net4, Visual Studio
SQL Server , T-SQL
XML, XPath, XSL, XQuery
Windows Server
Experience of applying business analysis methods
Experience of relevant IT infrastructure technologies in a support or operations role (desirable)
Knowledge of information or data management services (desirable).
Duties include:
Analysis & Design
Investigation, analysis, review and documentation of business process and information needs. The definition of information structures to meet the information requirements of clients and to facilitate the development of software solutions.
The creation of viable specifications and acceptance criteria in preparation for the development of software solutions.
software Development
The design, creation, testing, maintenance and documenting of software from supplied specifications in accordance with agreed standards.
Carrying out unit and system testing to ensure the quality of software developed. Creation of test cases, test scripts and reports as necessary to support testing activity.
Support Services
The provision of application maintenance and support for ScotXed systems and online services. This includes the investigation and resolution of issues and may also include performance monitoring. Where necessary, escalating issues to other specialists or third party support providers.
The installation, configuration, upgrade, administration, monitoring and maintenance of databases supporting ScotXed online services.
You will work with a range of technologies to maintain and develop ScotXed systems.
