Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced electrical project engineer to join a military vehicle manufacturer, responsible for supporting the development and delivery of electrical subsystems into a military vehicle.The individual should have a proven history in working on design and development vehicle system teams throughout the engineering lifecycle.
Responsibilities include:
*Provide status reports on the progress of individual engineering activities
*Prepare material for use in internal and external design reviews
*Engage in system specific design reviews
*Support critical design appraisals throughout the design and development life-cycle
*Carry out viability assessments of competing technologies and systems
*Support vehicle trials and exhibitions as and when required - both in the UK and abroad
*Provide concise briefings to Department Manager
The individual should be in a position to be UK Security Cleared without the requirement for any special exemptions
Essential Skills:
*A proven track record in the design and development of vehicle systems from concept through to series production
*Experience of engineering vehicle systems designs against performance and reliability targets
*Experience in defining and evaluation system requirements
*Contemporary knowledge of existing and emerging technologies in the areas of vetronic systems
*A proven track record in the development of platform principle sub-systems
*Ability to liaise with and present information to multi-disciplined team members
*Ability to interpret vehicle system design requirements and propose appropriate design solutions
*Hold or be capable of holding security clearance up to the level of SECRET
*Willing to travel extensively within the UK and overseas
*Excellent presentation, verbal and written skills
Highly Desirable Skills:
*A strong background in military vehicle systems engineering
*Familiarity with current British Army tracked and wheeled vehicles
*Experience of working within a multi-cultural and multi-lingual engineering team
*Broad knowledge of standards and legislation applicable to military platforms
*Experience in on/off highway or low volume/special purpose vehicles
*Membership at CEng level of a UK Professional Registration institution such as IET or IMechE
