Quantitative Analyst - Credit Risk

As a Quantitative Analyst, you will contribute to the development and reporting of Credit Risk measurements and Risk Architecture Management Information for one of the most well-respected financial institutions in the world. Along with colleagues and business partners in the Finance and Treasury divisions, you will develop dynamic, forward-looking management information reports focusing on the level and types of risk the bank is willing to take, enabling business executives to anticipate risks and develop strategies for responding to actionable reports.

The candidate's initial deliverables will be focused on producing Credit MI for executive leadership, the Board of Directors, and regulators, which will enable them to make strategic decisions about the direction of the firm. The position will closely follow internal business developments within Wholesale and Retail portfolios, assessing the potential impact on the bank's risk management program. You will regularly meet with credit officers and business lines to discuss strategy, performance, and risk management.

Responsibilities:
  • Establish and follow standards of external sector-wide developments and assess and document their potential impact on progress internal strategy.
  • Perform analysis and interpret financial, credit, treasury and internal reports relative to external benchmarking standards.
  • Author monthly summaries correlating business strategy with performance and benchmarking data, including commentary with supporting analytic evidence for the bank and present to internal Sr. Executives.
  • Collaborate with the reporting and analysis team and business partners to develop and implement best practices for performance measurement and evaluation.
  • Collaborate with the reporting and analysis team as well as Finance and Treasury to develop a strong culture of information validation across the entire organization. Ensure integrity of your team's message and supporting analysis across all reporting.
  • Participate and contribute to internal discussions on identified issues in review meetings with senior management based on the content of the rating assessment.
  • Establish and management action plans to close self-identified gaps.
  • Closely follow internal business developments within Wholesale and Retail portfolios, assessing the potential impact on the firm's risk management program.
  • Establish and follow standards of external sector-wide developments and assess and document their potential impact on progress internal strategy.
  • Develop an understanding of Key Business Process across Risk, Treasury, and Finance groups to support a culture of validation across the enterprise.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor Degree in Finance or Accounting required - Master's Degree preferred
  • Experience in Credit Risk Management: Ability to assess approaches, determine probability and impact of business decisions on credit quality. Knowledge of BASEL accord preferred.
  • Knowledge of Regulatory and Operational Risk Management - regulations governing credit risk management methods. Ability to develop independent, disciplined processes that eliminate, transfer, re-structure or mitigate identified risks.
  • Market and Liquidity Risk Management - Knowledge of industry economic measures and impact on risk weighted assets (RWA) and standards for measuring capital coverage.
  • Demonstrated project management experience. Proven expertise in planning and executing operational plans and complex change-management projects.
  • Results oriented, deadline driven individual who thrives in fast paced, dynamic environment.
  • Ability to analyze balance sheet and financial statements and key credit quality indicators.
  • Effectively organize, summarize and query risk data platforms in the Microsoft Office application suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint.)
  • Candidates with knowledge of financial mathematics, credit analysis and accounting/finance will be considered more favorably.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • A balance of incisive numerical and analytical skills, together with an ability to speak and write concise, fluent English.
  • Superb attention to detail, initiative, strong work ethic, and team focus.
