Sustainment Engineer/Product Investigation Engineer required by leading Aerospace and Defence company based in Cheltenham.

This role encompasses all engineering disciplines with exposure to various electronic systems, products and technologies.

The Sustainment Engineering team provide through-life expertise and support for aviation products and components. They are responsible for the resolution of engineering, process, and test issues maximising production yield in order to satisfy the needs of our customers. They are the product focal for obsolescence resolution, design change and improvements.

Essential Responsibilities

As a Sustainment Engineer you will utilize your experience and expertise to support the production of aviation products to satisfy our customer requirements. You will work within a small team of engineers to resolve engineering/design issues to support a range of products. You will own technical elements of product support, including root cause analysis and corrective action, design change, and obsolescence resolution.

Key Activities:

  • Developing solutions to technical problems, including support to production, field repairs, and component obsolescence
  • Provide root cause analysis and corrective action resulting from FRACAS activities (Failure Reporting Analysis and Corrective Action System)
  • Responsible for execution of design change for products within the team portfolios, including changes to technical documentation, drawings, bills of materials, etc,
  • Provide support to design and process improvements
  • Drive down the cost of production by the generation and execution of process improvement and material cost reduction initiatives
  • Contribute to the New Product Introduction (NPI) process to ensure product engineering lessons learnt are fed back into development programs
  • Ensuring compliance with mandatory regulations, standards and company processes

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Qualification to degree level in an electronic/mechanical discipline, or equivalent experience
  • Experience in working in a similar environment, not limited to aerospace
