Project Manager - Bristol - 55kJob DetailsOpportunities Our Nuclear business is growing rapidly and the profile of the projects we are involved in is changing. As a result, we are looking to recruit project managers to support and deliver a large number of technically challenging and individual projects for our clients. We are looking to expand and strengthen our Project Management skill base as we take on more commercially challenging projects, both within the UK and internationally. Our global business expansion is happening here and now, with opportunities in Europe and the Middle East, and much more to come. Project management roles will be based in our offices in Bristol, Glasgow, or Epsom in Surrey, however, the project work you would be involved with could be located anywhere. As a result our project managers need to be able to work with, and lead, project teams that are local to them, or geographically disparate. We need project managers who are capable of managing a variety of project types and sizes, with the desire to deliver project management excellence.You may be required to deliver; a portfolio of projects under a framework, projects for and on behalf of our clients, or packages of work from your home office. The future of our project management will involve more joint ventures and design and build style contracts and with that comes the challenges of complex commercial management. The opportunities are endless and varied, and never predictable! Our business is founded upon our consultancy heritage, and with that comes particular expectations of the people that we employ. Consultants have a 'can-do' approach, are unfazed by new technical challenges, able to turn their hand to anything, are fantastic communicators and great listeners, keen to learn, and are able to apply their project management skills to multi-disciplinary teams. Requirements Suitable candidates will possess the following skills / experience;
    • Essential
      Direct and demonstrable experience of managing engineering projects to time, cost and quality, particularly in front end design (construction implementation experience in addition is desirable).
    • Degree qualified in a related Engineering or Science based discipline, although candidates with a Project Management related degree will be considered.
    • Able to demonstrate their application of the project management skillset across projects with various technical challenges.
    • Excellent communication skills via all appropriate media.
    • Able to show a 'can-do' approach to work, appear undaunted by new challenges and new industries and demonstrate awareness of own limitations, and knowing when to ask questions.
    • Demonstrate a responsible attitude towards safety and security.
    • A proven ability to motivate, get the best out of their team members, deal with conflict, and discuss their enthusiasm about staff development in conjunction with their strong delivery culture.
    • Able to discuss their leadership style and demonstrate an understanding of the responsibilities of every project manager to be a strong and capable team leader.
    • Will have a robust client and / or stakeholder management capability, involving the key consultancy skills of listening, taking a balanced and measured view, engaging the right people at the right time, and developing strong and long term business relationships
    • Able to discuss different contract types (e.g. NEC3, bespoke contractual arrangements) and their own experiences working under these.

Desirable
  • Nuclear industry experience is advantageous, however, we are principally looking for first class technical / engineering project managers with the capacity to learn and develop their skills for the nuclear industry and demonstrate the consultancy attitude described previously.
In addition, we would expect applicants for Senior level positions to demonstrate the following;
  • Experience / ability to develop client relationships and win work, or secure additional funding (as appropriate), through bidding/sales/marketing/presentation
  • Some involvement in leading contract negotiations.
