My Client is urgently recruiting for a Solaris Specialist to help design, build and deploy a number of Servers upon which key elements of their new system will run.
You should have a hands-on approach to technology and have experience of building systems and rolling technologies out from scratch. You will also have a good working knowledge of StorageTek tape library operation. Effective performance monitoring tools must be set up as well to ensure efficient system operation and thereby excellent service delivery. In addition to deployment of the working systems, an important aspect of knowledge transfer will be to provide clear and comprehensive documentation as a basis for further development and support by my Clients staff.
The Solaris Specialist must be competent to Design, build and deploy Solaris-based Servers;
- Administer Solaris systems effectively
- Operate StorageTek tape libraries efficiently
- Recommend and deploy appropriate system monitoring tools
- Document all of the above
Essential criteria:
- Demonstrable ability to build and deploy effective Solaris-based Servers
- An excellent working knowledge of Solaris 10, including system hardening
- Experience of operating StorageTek tape libraries
- Good track record in delivering complex systems, working in a team or on own initiative, to very tight deadlines
- Energy and enthusiasm and a willingness to tackle new tasks
- Good interpersonal and communication skills; interacting with range of internal and external stakeholders all levels, both technical and non-technical, adjusting style and approach as needed
- Methodical and meticulous approach to work
Desirable criteria:
- Experience of Solaris 11
- Knowledge of SAM-QFS
- Working knowledge of Brocade 300 SAN Switches and FCAL-attached disk storage systems
- Experience of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6, together with Red Hat IPA
- Knowledge of Agile methodologies
