Front End Web Application Maintenance
General Background
The project is one out of several projects running in the IT Roadmap programme of our client with the objective of providing a fully electronic version of the content of publications.
The project is looking for a web developer to provide development services for a web based application.
The services are requested for the period of Quarter I and II of 2013, and the successful candidate will be based in The Hague.
Occasional travel to the other sites (Munich and Berlin) might be required.

Project Background
The project team has team members in Munich and The Hague. Cooperation with team members and other developers on other locations would mainly happen via electronic means, including video-conferencing, but the developer should be willing to occasionally travel to Munich upon request.
The work will be performed 100% on site.
A technical manager, also located in The Hague, will guide the technical aspects of the developer's work.
Development of the application has finished, and the production rollout will happen in February 2013.
The developer's work will be to assist the team in fixing potential issues arising after rollout, as well as working on the issues of lower priority that were not addressed yet.
The project will partially adopt the agile project management methodologies.
For communication, the client is using enterprise desktop applications: IBM Lotus Notes, MS Office.
Knowledge about Intellectual Property (IP) and IP application software is an advantage.

Short Description:
To resolve issues arising in a Javascript/CSS (AJAX) application.
The team is looking for a highly skilled developer.

Deliverables:
* Resolution of JIRA issues in the Front End area of the application
* Unit Tests (unit, integration and regression tests)
* Technical documentation
* Reporting to the technical team manager located in The Hague

Required Skills
The web developer should demonstrate a strong expertise and history in web application development. The web developer should in general have technical skills:
* Excellent knowledge of JavaScript (not Java), JSON, jQuery, CSS
* Excellent knowledge of mark-up and style sheet languages (HTML 4/5, XHMTL, CSS Level 2+, XML, DTD/XML schema, XSL)
* Excellent knowledge in applying REST and web/AJAX security measures
* Very good knowledge of test driven development approach and SCRUM methodology
* Familiar with JIRA, Confluence and Greenhopper (SCRUM support)
* Familiar with writing Unit Tests and the Hudson test environment

The candidate should be fluent in spoken and written English.
In particular, in view of the expected UI concept, it is a strong advantage if the developer is able to show experience with the following technical solutions:
* Web editors, incl. advanced search & replace
* Pagination concepts for viewing documents
* Storage and reuse of objects in the UI
* Dynamic menus,
* Graphical representation of status information, eg dashboard
* Sliding-in windows

Optionally, experience with the following technical solutions would a further advantage:
* Development of unit tests and integration in the Hudson environment
The willingness and ability to quickly acquire any of the capabilities above - if lacking - is a prerequisite.
Excellent web development skills and a fast understanding of the UI concept and the
technical framework of the project are mandatory for any candidate.
