GENERAL PURPOSE:
Primary responsibility is to handle facilities engineering and operational assignments of a broad scope and moderate difficulty. The engineer will coordinate with asset teams and/or technical professionals to support the completion of well hook-ups and infrastructure installation to ensure they are aligned with business objectives, maintain producing properties at a maximum economic rate and comply with governmental and contractual requirements. May serve as a project leader on assignments requiring broad knowledge. The scope of the position includes: costs estimates, AFE preparation and execution of all facilities design and construction.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
- Provide specialized technical expertise to ensure the safest and most cost effective methods, while minimizing loss of production revenue through innovative techniques, procedures and equipment
- Provide day to day functional guidance and technical support to Operations and engineering staff on design, installation and testing to ensure quality work and a timely and cost effective approach
- Assist with cost projections, approvals for expenditure and budget control
- Manage design as determined by internal control standards, and effectively communicate changes to management
- Provide assistance to other engineers such as: peer technical review, mentoring and knowledge transfer
- Function as Technical Reviewer and resource for various parts of Process Safety Management (PSM) and Integrity Management systems
- Participate in Process Hazards Analysis, Facilities Hazards Identification, Pre-Startup Safety Reviews, etc.
- Provide engineering support to assure compliance with regulatory requirements
- Conduct optimization studies
- Lead small engineering projects from conceptual design to installation and operation
- Identify hazards, best practices, evaluate state of the art equipment and practices and incorporate sound engineering practices for the design and construction of all new facilities
- Maintain current and accurate facility documentation
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting of all facility issues and concerns
- Support Business Development and Reservoir engineering in the preparation of scoping cost estimates for acquisitions and the budget and planning processes
- On call support, including nights and weekends may be required for field locations
- Conduct business with the highest ethical standards; demonstrate decision-making skills that ensure the safety of all persons associated facilities
- Other duties as assigned
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:
- B.S. degree in Petroleum, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering is required
- Minimum of 6 years of applicable facilities engineering experience
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Proficient level of skill in Microsoft Office
- Experience with commonly used industry software
- Technical knowledge and operational experience with facilities and pipeline fabrication, piping materials and general construction practices
- Comprehensive understanding of onshore land, unconventional resource plays in regards to facilities design and execution
- Ability to read, interpret and develop crucial engineering drawings, piping & instrument diagrams, process flow diagrams and upstream oil field process design
- Knowledge of environmental, health and safety regulations
- Ability to troubleshoot routine mechanical systems and components
- Basic understanding of engineering economic evaluations
- Demonstrated ability to produce results that meet economic goals and make economic recommendations that have a positive financial impact
- Familiarity with process hazard analysis and incident investigation techniques
- Driven, organized and detail oriented
- Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks with competing demands on resources
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
