My client is a leading International Investment Bank with an established presence in the US, Europe and Asia. Their Australian business is fairly small, however due to consistent success in the market, has been earmarked for growth and Investment. Historically IT for the region has been migrated from either New York or London, however, due to location specific requirements, the blue touch paper has been lit on a new programme of work to completely overhaul their Operations, Risk & Finance processes and consolidate a number of Legacy systems used within the area.
This will be a standalone role with the opportunity to build out the team in Q1 2013. You will be expected to set the architectural direction of the business and be the key point of liaison between the users, Change & Risk management staff and senior IT management. This is a hands-on design and development role but, given the size of the Australian business, you will also play the role of BA and oversee UAT.
The objective of the role is to rationalise, standardise and improve the existing End User Computing (EUC) applications currently used by the Finance team in the region. The existing proprietary applications are predominantly spread-sheet based, therefore solid Excel VBA & C# skills are required. There are also a number of vendor systems in use which you will analyse for suitability before deciding on technical direction. This is a heavily business facing role so previous experience gained within the Finance/Accounting area of an Investment Bank is crucial.
Requirements of the role:
- At least 8 years experience of application development and/or systems analysis, at least 3 years of which in a technical leadership role
- MS SQL 2008 (Analysis Services (SSAS), Reporting Services (SSRS), Integration Services (SSIS)
- C#, .Net, VBA, MS Office (Excel/Access)
- Understanding of Agile Development Methodologies
- General Windows and Unix programming experience
- Ability and willingness to analyse, debug and support existing applications
- Knowledge of financial markets - down-stream trade processing of various instruments (inc Equities & Fixed Income (cash & derivatives), Accounting and Finance within an Investment Bank - ESSENTIAL!
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
