Key responsibilities:

  • Creating the high level solution designs and detailed configurations to align with the IT Architecture Roadmap, network architecture and program strategy
  • Documenting and overseeing the provisioning, installation, operation, upgrading, capacity planning and performance testing of data and voice communications networks
  • Creating and maintaining technical documentation
  • Maintaining and updating architecture and design documentation
  • Managing relationships with internal stakeholders to ensure the network design and implementations articulate the network requirements, integrates with the infrastructure and systems platforms and confirms or enhances the data centre facilities management

Key requirements:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Computer science or Electronics Engineering
  • Certificates in networking or security with vendors such as Juniper (mandatory), F5 (mandatory) and Cisco, Nortel and Checkpoint (desirable)
  • Understanding of Unix (Solaris) and WinTel environment will be an advantage
  • Extensive experience in IT/Network engineering
  • Extensive experience and specialist skills in the configuration and maintenance of networking/communications infrastructure, including the ability to support a variety of technologies
  • Expert knowledge of industry standards and government regulations relevant to data communications, networking and security
  • Strong skills in Router hardware/software, Switch hardware/software, SNA/MVS, Frame Relay, ATM, Protocols (TCP/IP/IPX/IBM)
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills
  • Advanced operational knowledge of networking systems and software covering both LAN and WANS
  • Excellent communication (written and oral) skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Excellent organisational, planning, co-ordination and time management skills
  • Demonstrated results focus
  • Appreciation of, and a demonstrated commitment to, exceptional customer service
  • Ability to readily adapt to change
  • Ability to work autonomously and confidently within a multi-disciplined team
