Commercial Officer - SC Cleared

Seeking a Commercial Officer to work on an exciting new contract with one of our leading clients based in Hampshire. The client is looking to bring you on for an initial 6 months with the likelihood of extension and offers a very generous rate of up to £300 per day depending on experience. Additionally applicants are required to hold a current SC Security Clearance for this role.

Job Summary

  • Provide commercial support in the placing of requirements and contracts through our client and MOD processes, using FATS and Defence based contracting skills.
  • The Commercial Officer will also provide procurement and commercial service within their delegated authority limits ensuring contracts and suppliers meet our clients needs for operational and contractual delivery.
  • The Commercial Officer will also support the management of procurements through the development and implementation of effective contracts with appropriate suppliers, considering internal needs and supply market characteristics.
  • The contractor will also be expected to use and understand a range of EU compliant procurement routes and tools as appropriate, making use of effective procurement approaches and processes.
  • The contractor will also provide direct commercial support and advice as appropriate to customers within our clients Depts and Functions.
  • As a part of the role there will also be an element of Contract Management where required.

Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Tendering and Placing contracts in accordance with Public Procurement.
  • Regulations Knowledge of EU Directives/Procurement Law.

Desirable

  • Good interpersonal skills to develop relationships with customers and suppliers.
  • Knowledge of Finance/Procurement systems - ideally the Oracle Peoplesoft application
  • Good interpersonal skills to develop relationships with customers and suppliers.

Education

  • MCIPS (essential)

Personal Attributes

  • Procurement experience - tender management, contract drafting & placement
  • Knowledge of the use of Peoplesoft procurement modules
  • Public procurement experience, including EU directives and relevant procurement law.
  • Good interpersonal skills MCIPS MoD/our clients procurement experience, including the use of Government framework agreements.
