This Project Manager is responsible for managing application releases and related projects as part of a program.

Position Summary
Provide project management for small to large IT projects. Serve as liaison between business and technical teams including IT Architecture, data resource management, IT Quality Assurance (ITQA), technology infrastructure and operations, and business leadership, business stakeholders/change agents and business PMO; monitor and provide status of portfolio of projects and perform project methodology compliance audits. Provide input to technology strategy plans.

Duties
Develop and manage project documents including: project control book, work breakdown structure, issue management log, risk mitigation Matrix, change control documentation, status reports, meeting minutes, budget, resource plans & completion report. Track and manage projects from initiation to successful completion. Manage and coordinate the activities of internal and external technical staff. Investigate, research and propose process and procedure for the staff. Consult and advise project leads on project initiation, planning, execution, control and closeout activities. Analyze complex business needs and facilitate concurrence among stakeholders. Represent the IT function at client meetings when appropriate. Communicate formal presentations and regular status to management and business partners. Develop, promote and enforce project management and SDLC standard as well as best practices for team along with implementation of all projects processes including workflow, project management, tracking and reporting. Work with operational areas to ensure continuity of business process design in support of new projects. Lead group to successful solutions by facilitating to consensus on issues.

The ideal candidate will have or be able to do the following:
  • SCHEDULE MANAGEMENT - for this position, proven success managing to an aggressive schedule is a MUST.
  • MS Project - this is not a trainable skill and doesn't easily translate to other PM tools, therefore MS Project is a MUST.
  • STRONG COMMUNICATION - MUST have STRONG communication skills - this person will be dealing with IT and business partners.
  • EXECUTION - ability to DRIVE delivery and contain scope/schedule/cost while achieving the end goal.
  • SCOPE MANAGEMENT - this position is not the analyst, but will be responsible for translation of Requirements, scope management, and management of acceptance criteria.
  • CHANGE MANAGEMENT - ability to execute change management through a formal process
  • RISK and ISSUE MANAGEMENT - experience with risk workshops, risk analysis, issue management, formal risk and issue logs.
  • FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT - balanced approach to resources, appropriate utilization, and management of costs allocated against capital AND expense.
  • PROGRAMMING EXPERIENCE - programming experience is a PLUS (but not required) in communicating with the developers and understanding why all the pieces go together.
  • PM EXPERIENCE - greater than 5 years.
  • PROJECT SCALE - multiple projects in portfolio; has previously supported several medium ($500K-$750K) efforts concurrently.
  • LOCAL - Must be local.
  • NOTES - We utilize the waterfall approach, but sometimes AGILE experience is a plus.
  • NOTES - Looking for a variety of industry experience, doesn't have to be a healthcare focus.
  • NOTES - WebSphere Application Server 8 familiarity and updating applications across WAS versions is a plus.
  • CERTIFICATION - PMP is NOT required.

    Experience
    6+ years experience in a professional services environment exhibiting proven client management, relationship development, analytical and problem solving skills, and end-to-end experience with software development methodologies. 2 years proven experience in project management practices - planning, status reporting, issue management, risk mitigation, scope control documentation - and the use of methodologies. Use of SDLC methodologies and supporting toolsets and familiarity and exposure to development environments is required. CMMI experience preferred. PMI certification is preferred. Problem solving and analytic ability - being able to understand the big picture and determine how the project fits into it - in order to define and manage scope. Very strong written and oral communication skills. Must be results oriented with strong customer focus and proven leadership skills.

    BS in computer science/MIS or equivalent combination of education and experience. High School Diploma or GED is a requirement for ALL Jobs
