My client is one of the worlds leading providers of general insurance and life insurance products. They require an experienced QA test engineer for a 6 month contract starting immediately.

Located 5 minutes from the IFSC & beside the luas line & Connolly station this is an ideal location. The daily rate on offer is between €250 - €300 depending on experience.

Duties and Responsibilities

Key tasks include:
  • Identify valid test conditions then create relevant Test Scenarios and Test Cases applicable to both new and existing product functionality.
  • Execution of the agreed set of Test Cases, in line with the Test Plan and Development Project Schedule, clearly and accurately reporting test results and progress.
  • Resolution of test issues and retesting bugs when they are re-submitted into the test environment and provide sign-off or remedial action recommendations.
  • Review the project documentation to ensure a thorough understanding of the business and technical requirements. These may include business requirements, functional specifications, process flow diagrams and use cases, produced at varying levels of formality dependent on risk and complexity.
  • Liaise with Sr. Test analyst, Business Analysts, Project Managers and Software Engineers to derive logical sets of prioritised Test Breakdowns, assessing requirements and timescales for test execution to ensure they can be run in the available project time.
  • Works closely with the Support and Production Services teams as required to ensure the smooth transition of the configuration item from testing to UAT and on to the Production environment
  • Liaises with key stakeholders & cross functional team to resolve test failures.
  • Contribute to Testing Improvement.
  • Ensure a quality software system is released


Knowledge and Experience

Essential:
  • IT qualification with minimum 3-4 years experience in a Testing role.
  • Experience in development of test plans & test scripts.
  • Experience of testing methodologies and managing test cycles.
  • Full lifecycle experience to include test metrics.
  • Experience in producing and communicating accurate and timely status reports.
  • Basic knowledge of SQL / TOAD skills.


Desirable:
  • ISEB foundation certificate in software testing or similar.
  • Experience working within Agile Framework.
  • Understanding of best practices/methodologies.
  • Good understanding of insurance business, processes and business applications.
  • To have some understanding in some of the following would be of advantage.
    • .Net framework, Silverlight, Java framework, Cognos.
