Description
Senior Support Analyst in East AngliaTo install, configure, optimise and maintain the systems and infrastructure services used by the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues that are escalated from the ServiceDesk team
- Monitor and administer complex backups of company data, ensuring data integrity and restoration when required
- Ensure the successful integration of new vendor supplied patches and upgrades
- Provide technical expertise to other parts of the organisation in the design and review of new systems and applications and work with the Architect team on implementation
- Liaise with engineering groups to recommend and execute modifications to systems in order to improve efficiency, availability, reliability, and performance. Influence their decision making where necessary.
- Create and maintain documentation as it relates to system configuration, mapping, processes, and service records
- Carry out market research on hardware and software in support of procurement and system development efforts
- Liaise with other groups in projects related to the company infrastructure, whether it be from a design, research, implementation or testing perspective and provide their expertise
- Monitor and test system performance and provide performance statistics and reports using existing reports and creating new ones as appropriate
- Lead, coordinate and participate in key process improvements
- Coach junior members of the team
Person Specification - Required
- Recognised certification in platform support (MCSE, RHCE, CCNP)
- Proven experience in supporting Operating System, Business Applications and Databases (SQL, Oracle)
- Educated to graduate level or equivalent experience
- Experience in scripting or a background or education involving programming
- Strong focus on IT systems and data security
- Strong customer service orientationAn understanding of the importance of quality customer service and relations and the impact which IS has on the business
- Ability to work well in a high pressured environment, responding to large numbers of user calls
- Ability to converse well with a highly technical user base
- Flexibility is required as there is often pressure to meet strict deadlines.
- Solid RedHat Enterprise Linux experience in a distributed computing environment
- Technical Support or Infrastructure backgroupd
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work in a busy, fast moving environment
- Ability to provide consultancy services to other areas of the business on unix related technologies
- Identify and take ownership of initiatives to improve the UNIX infrastructure
- Build, Configure, Install, Commission, Test and Deploy infrastructure in line with company objectives
- A working knowledge of networking (LAN, WAN, routing and switching)
- Experience of managing and supporting centralised storage systems such as NetApp, EMC, HP
- Certification in IT Infrastructure Library
- IT certification in security such as CISSP
- Previous experience of working within a semiconductor company
- Ability to speak French, Swedish or Danish
- Experience of NetApp Storage Filers
- Experience of Isilon Storage Appliance
- Experience of VMware virtualisation technologies
- Knowledge of Cisco networking and security technologies
- RedHat certification - RHCE, RHCA
