Key Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain the exploration project plan for the Company's operated and non-operated West African assets
  • Track all project milestones, including the delivery of key technical programs and products (coordination with Operations and Portfolio Planning Manager)
  • With the Portfolio Planning Manager, advance planning of all TCM and OCM meetings with partners and governments
  • Will represent the company at these meetings as required
  • Coordination with Accounting to insure consistency and accuracy of budgets and projected spending obligations
  • Work with the Commercial Advisor to insure consistency in economic evaluations
  • Participate in internal performance and ranking of the company's portfolio
  • Work with the senior executives to review project performance on a monthly basis
  • Will direct the activities of a multi-disciplinary staff
  • Will participate in an active way in the geological analysis of the Company's West African properties
  • Will form and maintain relationships with partners, state oil companies, and government ministries


Equivalent Education Level: Minimum of an MSc Degree in Geosciences, preferably Geology

Years of Relatevant Experience: A minimum of 15 years' experience, with at least three years in exploration management with prior experience in managing complicated projects with multi-disciplinary staffs

Additional Relevant Experience: Preference will be given to those with Spanish language skills; conversational French is a plus; prior experience in West African geology, specifically Sierra Leone, Cote d'Ivoire, Ghana, and Equatorial Guinea; prior experience working with governments and state oil companies in the aforementioned countries
Job Knowledge, Requirements and Most Critical Job Skills:
  • In-depth knowledge of the appropriate software used in technical geoscience evaluations; knowledge of Paradigm and GeoX is considered a plus.
  • Effective communicator and presentation skills
  • Ability to coordinate with diverse teams to obtain the critical information and data needed to do the job
  • Constructs effective presentations
  • Works independently but solicits input from others as needed
