Title: Mechanical Maintenance Trainer/Assessor 005228

Identify training needs, prepare programme and deliver 1st Year "Off the Job" training to Apprentices and external candidates in a specific Engineering. Monitor and assess Apprentices and external delegates to Lead Body standards to achieve NVQ Engineering qualifications together with induction training, functional skills and all relevant Health & Safety regulations and legislation applicable to Apprentices/staff at work. To supply to the business staff to meet the needs and objectives of providing skilled, competent, professional and safety conscious engineers through a nationally recognised qualifications.

Key Accountabilities

  • Responsible for the day to day management of Apprentices/delegates within the Workshop at the Engineering Training Centre at Acton. This will include discipline, welfare and ensuring a safe working environment for training, including regular safety inspections.
  • Responsible for maintaining accurate and confidential records on each Apprentice/delegate together with compiling periodical written reports on progress and ability of individuals.
  • Compile various training modules together with practical and written tests, including checking and assessing process of each test.
  • Ensure all necessary equipment and materials are available to meet training requirements.
  • Deal with Apprentices/delegates concerns as they arise.

Knowledge

  • The knowledge required to adequately fulfil duties of the role
  • In-depth knowledge of the NVQ process and lead body requirements
  • Good understanding of Apprenticeship Frameworks
  • Knowledge of current educational curriculum and further education providers
  • Skills practical skills that are required to do the role.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong influencing skills

Experience

  • Proven practical experience in one of the relevant Engineering Disciplines to a minimum of HNC or equivalent standard
  • Experience in at least one of the vocational areas covered by the Schemes
  • Previous experience of working in a training environment in an Engineering Discipline (desirable).
  • PTLLS or equivalent (Desirable)
