IT Monitoring Engineer - HP BAC/HP BPM

Summary:

As the IT Monitoring Engineer you will be responsible for the support of systems and solutions that monitor and report the health of the company's infrastructure and applications. The ideal candidate will have experience with HP BAC, HP BPM, HP SiteScope, SNMP, be detail-oriented and will continuously strive to improve monitoring process. Engineer would implement and maintain both application and server monitoring using the HP Suite of Tools. You will also collaborate with development and operation or server hosting team to ensure accurate and useful monitoring and statistics are in place. Conduct the design, development and implementation of a application and server monitor on the platform. Engineer will run and review performance monitoring of complex systems and applications on multiple platforms. Regularly review the monitored data and indicate performance, bottleneck and any application issue finding to respective application or server owners. Works closely with both the systems engineering and software development groups to ensure that application monitoring is in place for the production roll-out. The initial contract will be for 6 months.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors' Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related discipline
  • 3 to 5 years' experience in Application and Server Monitoring Engineering
  • Strong experience using HP Suite Monitoring Tool. HP Suite Monitoring Tool Includes:
    • HP BAC - Business Availability Center
    • HP BPM - Business Process Manager (Application Monitoring)
    • HP SiteScope (Server Monitoring)
  • HP VuGen (Virtual User Generator) - Scripting tool to create monitoring scripts
  • Must have SNMP experience
  • Expert in creating definitions and scripts for the application transactions to be monitored in BPM/BAC using HP VUGEN
  • Expert in the collection of various performance matrices and producing report using HP BAC
  • Expertise in monitoring, identifying, analysing issues and escalating to required levels and attention.
  • Exposure to working UNIX, Windows and Mainframe environments
  • Expertise in VUGEN Scripting, MS DOS bat process, Visual Basic, ASP, HTML, SNMP protocols, VB Scripting, C language
  • Expertise in the installation and configuration and troubleshooting of HP RUM/BAC Servers and probes
  • Basic Programming knowledge with Exposure to .NET/Java technologies
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written
