Description

As a Mechanical Engineer (Contractor) with my client, you will join a team that designs, productizes and supports appliances that provide large arrays of shared, non volatile, solid state memory. Your focus will be on hardware design at the system level, requiring you to be experienced in the hardware design electronic systems. In this position you will use SolidWorks CAD software to create reliable, cost-effective designs including drive enclosures, PCB assemblies, and heat sinks and perform fluid flow, thermal, structural, and vibration simulations to optimize the design. You will be responsible for summarizing and presenting the results to other groups within Micron. You will work with suppliers to have designs fabricated. You will validate the design through mechanical inspection and correlate test data with simulation data.

Successful candidates for this position will have:

  • Proven track record as a Mechanical Engineer or Mechanical Designer in an electronics-related industry
  • Proven ability to develop creative designs and drive changes to processes where needed
  • Willingness to research and develop innovative solutions to common problems
  • Experience designing enclosures for electronics
  • Knowledge of PCB manufacturing processes and tools
  • Extensive experience with SolidWorks modelling and simulation tools, including:
    • Flow Simulation, stress and fatigue simulation modules
    • CircuitWorks add-in
    • SolidWorks PDM software and use
    • CSWA or CSWP preferred
  • Familiarity with SolidEdge
  • Experience working with manufacturers to fabricate mechanical designs, including:
    • Tolerance stackup analysis using both plus/minus and GD&T systems
    • Mechanical drawings for fabrication adhering to ASME or ISO standards
    • Assembly instructions
    • BOM creation and management
    • Knowledge of industry-standard metal and plastic fabrication practices
  • Desire to work with a diverse set of engineers from many disciplines and to incorporate electrical, mechanical, and customer-specific design requirements
  • Ability to effectively communicate design concepts to engineers and managers
  • Experience leading designs for complex projects with long time-frames and tracking project documentation in company-wide database systems
