Working within a growing division of a global bank, this role has responsibility for enhancement, development, implementation and management of key Back Office applications. These applications are both vendor based and locally developed.

Key responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain appropriate documentation and procedures, adhering to existing policy and process disciplines, including change management, problem management, Disaster Recovery, Issue tracking and reporting.
  • Ad hoc requirements analysis for version upgrades, minor developments and enhancements to existing applications in accordance with business requirements
  • Compliance activities. Delivery of Information Security and compliance related deliverables for supported applications

Key requirements

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications
  • Strong application support background
  • Operational knowledge of banking products and processes, experience and familiarity with Back Office technologies and terminologies
  • Ability to take ownership of problems through to resolution, including reporting of progress, determination of 'work a rounds' and contingencies, co-ordination with other support groups, vendors and users with the objective of minimising business inconvenience.
  • Out of hours support of applications as needed, either for problem resolution or systems integration/implementation activities
  • Good analysis and problem solving skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Customer orientated. Able to deal with internal clients in a positive manner
  • Familiarity with hardware topologies including machine configuration and networks, as the role may require interfacing with staff and departments specialising in these areas
  • Understanding and experience of project life cycles and exposure to project management disciplines
  • Team player with excellent interpersonal skills; the ability to communicate at all levels, in both verbal and written forms
  • Willingness to take on ownership and responsibility; highly motivated with a client service ethos
  • Ability to learn quickly in a high-pressure environment
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritisation of tasks
  • Willingness to deal with out of hour's issues and assigned support duties as required
  • Energetic, motivated and adaptable to change
