POSITION: Welding Manager

TYPE OF PROJECT:
The project involves the building of 6 x 780 MWE coal fired super critical boilers for the coal fired power station to be erected in South Africa.
RESONSIBILITIES:
- Must be able to work unsupervised and lead a team.
- Responsible for all welding activities on the project
- Assist the welding engineer.
- Control man hours allowed for erection, ensure all budgets are met or improved.
- Ensure high standards of safety and quality are adhered to.
- Ensure all Welders have the correct qualifications.
- Assist the Construction Manager in running the site in a safe manner within budget and on time.
- Must report all deviations from the scope of work in writing to the Project director.
- Must maintain and run a computer based weld record system that will ensure management reports, repair rates, compressive weld reports are generated.
- Manage the construction work force ensuring the day to day activities are carried out in in to the best of their ability.
REQUIREMENTS:
- A recognized trade in the field of welding and preferably have a level 1 & 2 welding supervisor/ inspection certificate.
- 15 years’ experience in the welding of pressure and hp piping on boilers.
- Must be quality conscious and must have a good understanding of QIP’s and quality procedures.
