Description
The focus of JP Morgan is one of client service. This particular position is in the Prime Brokerage Corporate Actions Middle Office and relates to the Americas business. It should be stressed that the business is operationally very intensive. There is a far greater slant to the management of the operational risk of this business and a great deal of effort is necessary to ensure tight controls around the numerous flows of the various structures. There is a large amount of time spent communicating with clients and Back Office personnel.
Strong analytical thinking coupled with strong communication skills are required to balance positions, reconcile accounts, research event terms and respond to numerous client inquiries. In addition, the ability to monitor and manage the life cycle of each assigned event.
The responsibilities of the position are:
- To process and reconcile daily Proxy instructions and also ensure their validity for participation.
- To understand the security positions associated with each meeting event
- To send all mailings accurately and timely.
- To research all inquiries related to requests from clients and internal service teams
- To be able to work within a team and lend assistance as needed as workflows increase for other team members
- A basic understanding in accounting is essential
- The desire to learn about different types of corporate actions and how they work
- Self starting team player
- Analytical and quantitative aptitude
- Adaptability to learn new tasks and demonstrate a willingness to understand the detail of a process.
- Control focused
- Understanding of process flows: Ability to look at the overall process and explain it to others.
- Time Management: Organization and prioritization of tasks, meeting deadlines and working to defined targets.
- Technical skills: The daily tasks will involve using several applications as well as the standard desktop so must have an aptitude for this.
