As part of the Global Markets IT Team the Systems Administrator will provide end-to-end support across multiple environments (Production, Development, and Testing) throughout Asia. This means working with leading technology professionals in a fast paced and highly dynamic organization.

The contractor will have an opportunity to hone their already extensive Unix support skills whilst being a key member of the team, based in Singapore.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide support for mission critical Linux/UNIX systems
  • Maintain Servers in development, QA, production and contingency environments
  • Perform configuration and troubleshooting of hardware, OS, Storage, backup and network problems
  • Assist application releases.
  • Assist with Systems maintenance
  • Plan, test and implement changes and upgrades to the server environments
  • Provide escalation support for Level 1 Operations Analysts team in Singapore.
  • Act as escalation point for unresolved Level 1 issues.
  • Provide Level 3 support for overnight issues for the EMEA region

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • At least 5 years of experience in supporting and administering Solaris (versions 8, 9 and 10)
  • Experience in administering Red Hat Linux (version 3, 4 and 5)
  • Experience with:
    • Networking and TCP/IP protocols
    • EMC SAN/NetApp NAS
    • Active Directory
    • DNS
    • VMware Virtualisation Technologies
  • Good knowledge of Shell/Perl Scripting
  • Knowledge of VERITAS Backup Solutions
  • Strong analytical, debugging and troubleshooting skills
  • Strong interpersonal, communications, organizational and time management skills
  • Capability to work under pressure

Excellent communication skills are essential. A tertiary qualification in Information Technology or Computer Science is highly advantageous, as well as ITIL certification.
