Digital TV Architect required with experience of Content and Video Services.

Job description
  • Working within CTO Technology Development, the candidate would work on the development of video services for digital TV deployments across multiple operations in Europe
  • This involves cooperation with other design authorities, business lines, affiliate distribution companies and the operations group. There will also be extensive cooperation with external technology suppliers.
  • Understand all aspects of digital TV platforms, and future industry directions and developments.
  • Document Video Services Architectures.
  • Support management decisions with technical expertise.

Job demands:
  • MSc degree in Engineering or Computer Science.
  • Knowledge of Digital TV architectures and key technologies, and industry best practices.
  • Knowledge of XML and XML-related technologies, and modern Web standards (eg REST, HTML5).
  • Knowledge of service-oriented architectures (SOA), and design patterns and technologies used to fulfil these architectures.
  • Experience in engaging in systems architecture design processes and vendor management.
  • Experience in writing technical documentation for systems design/architecture specifications, including the use of UML.
  • Experience with live Digital TV, VoD or OTT systems.
  • Experience with metadata standards
  • Understanding of related technologies such as MPEG, RTSP, NVOD, NPVR, ABR
  • Understanding and experience of the technologies and protocols used in DVB-C systems eg DOCSIS.
  • Understanding of RF eg QAM and QPSK.
  • Good understanding DVB-C, DVB-S architectures and technologies eg Cable headends, provisioning systems, business systems interfaces.
  • Exposure to products from Tandberg, Broadbus, Motorola, Verivue, NDS, C-Cor, Seachange, Nagra, Nortel and Cisco.
  • Creative thinking (out of the box) and comfortable modelling complex systems, with high availability and performance requirements in mind.
  • Exposure to and understanding of Internet, TCP/IP Systems and Protocols, Unix and Microsoft based Servers.
  • Must be willing and able to adapt rapidly to changing priorities and technologies.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills, to maintain and develop effective working relationships with other peers.
  • Must have excellent problem solving skills and attention for detail.
  • Must be able to work under pressure and be prepared to work outside normal working hours when necessary.
  • Must be proactive, with a desire to continuously improve system solutions, documentation and process & procedures.
  • Excellent understanding of English, both written and spoken.
