Client:
Our client a leading financial organisation requires Contract Sybase DBA for 3 to 6 month role in South Dublin.

Responsibilities:

  • Production Environments - Sybase, DB2, Oracle and MS SQL Daily Performance monitoring, tuning and deep dive troubleshooting
  • Daily maintaining data standards, Data Protection Act, Security management, compliance with Sarbox, IAD, Audit operating procedures
  • Administer DB2 Replication and high availability
  • Developing, managing and testing back-up and recovery plans
  • Ensuring that storage, archiving, back-up and recovery procedures are functioning correctly
  • Capacity planning
  • Patch Management and Version Control
  • Automation of tasks
  • Assist Project teams with application database design reviews, Perform logical to physical database design
  • Deal effectively with internal and external groups including clients and vendors
  • Participate in a Rota to cover on-call and shifts.

Skills/Knowledge required:

  • Bachelor degree computer science or related discipline,
  • Minimum 5 years Production level Support Sybase 15.x with deep dive troubleshooting skills - ASE, Auditing Function, Encryption, MDA tables, DBCC
  • Minimum Production level Support of DB2 9.x
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Windows Servers 2003 and Sun Solaris 10
  • Excellent SQL/SP skills
  • Experience with Perl/Shell Scripting
  • Experience with data warehousing experience is desired.
  • Ability to work independently with little or no supervision, prioritise own workload and work to exacting deadlines
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Flexibility and adaptable in their approach to customer/business need
