- Backup and Recovery Strategies*
- Planning and scheduling Backups, Database Recovery, taking Logical Backups & Physical Backups. - Hands on experience of Recovery scenarios.
- Experience in Capacity Planning, Space Management, Database Upgrades/Migration Data Extraction.
- Support to team members for any database related issue
- Designing strategy towards Capacity Management for DB tracks.
- Having experience of DR setup through various synch methods.
- Database Tuning - Tuning Applications, Tuning Memory, and Tuning Disk Usage.
- Upgrading and applying security patches.
- Managing Alerts and Notifications
- Black-out Administration
- Cross platform transportable Tablespaces
- Installation, Maintenance/Patching and Configuration of SQL Server
- Designing & Maintaining SQL Server Indexes
- Handling of daily issues (Blockings, Long running transaction, etc)
- Good understanding of Transact SQL
- Distributing and Partitioning Database
- Importing and Exporting Data
- Knowledge about new feature of MS SQL Server 2008 (Policy Based Management, Resource Governor, Etc.)
- Backup/restore
- Conceptual knowledge of SAN
- DR Solution/implementation/execution
- Automating SQL Server tasks (SQL Jobs, Windows scripts, etc.)
- Designing SQL Server Security (Server hardening)
- Monitoring Microsoft SQL Server
- Performance tuning (Perfmon, Profiler, etc.)
- High Availability Features (Failover Clustering, Database Mirroring, Log Shipping, Replication)
- Administering SSRS, SSIS and SSAS (Functional knowledge will be an added advantage)
Soft Skills
- Excellent communication and conversation skills (Verbal and Written)
- Good documentation skills
- Good working knowledge of MS Office (Including MS Project and Visio)
- Should have a great customer handling skills
- Able to handle unforeseen situations
- High level of acceptance
- Can drive HCL's value and its methodology
Other Skills/Experience
- Worked on Production systems
- Datacenter understanding
- Experience with Database Migration, Installation, Upgrades and Patching
- Knowledge of Data warehousing and Star Schemas
- Knowledge of Data Guard/Gateways
- Storage Management Techniques
- Experience on Sun/Veritas/Microsoft Cluster
