Systems Administrator / 6 month Contract

My client is looking for an operations-oriented system administrator who can help build and maintain the production systems that support their hosted services. These systems serve operations that require reliable 24-hour operation to serve their customers. In addition, you will be responsible for the internal IT infrastructure the company uses for development and support.

Responsibilities

-Ensure our production environment is secure and compliant

-Deploy software upgrades on customer staging and production environments

-Respond to incidents and alerts during office hours and when on-call

-Plan, coordinate and execute changes to production and office infrastructure

-Perform standard IT administration tasks

-Automate repeated processes for efficiency and reliability

-Monitor production performance and anticipate future needs based on growing demand

-Stay current with technology and practices for ongoing improvements

Required Skills

-Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

-A solid understanding of Linux system administration and networking concepts (3+ years experience)

-Experience configuring High-Availability (HA) environments

-Database Administration (SQL, PostgreSQL)

-Ability to write scripts to automate repeated tasks (BASH, perl, python)

-Experience implementing fast, reliable and secure servers and networks

-Excellent communication skills

Nice to have Skills

-Familiarity with configuration management and revision control (git)

-Experience with Disaster Recovery (DR) procedures

-Experience with our applicable technology: Apache, PHP

-Familiarity with OS X
