Our client has an urgent requirement for a Unix Engineer to join their operations team, on a 12 month fixed term contract basis - interviews next week!

As part of our National Infrastructure group this role focuses on both Project and BAU work including; administration, support, incident and problem identification/resolution of the Firm's core Unix HPUX, Windows and SAN environment.

About the role;

This varied role will see you working to resolve complex incidents and problems, completing third level support and representing the Infrastructure Services group at project meetings as a technical Unix specialist.

Who are you?

A motivated, enthusiastic engineer with a background working for enterprise organisations, possibly progressing from an administrating role. A keen problem solver with an aptitude for problem solving as well as acting as an ambassador for the company. You will bring high levels of technical expertise and be able to effectively outline any issue with the associated technologies.

Duties and responsibilities;

  • Proven experience in a similar senior role supporting enterprise grade environments
  • Extensive Unix Administration experience - HPUX, RedHat and SUSE
  • Proven customer service skills in a support environment
  • Strong HP EVA SAN experience
  • Shell and Perl Scripting experience
  • Strong Windows server support experience

Desirable;

  • Exposure to SAP Systems on HPUX
  • HP Data Protector
  • HP Integrity and Superdome exposure
  • ITIL certification
