Market Data Engineer, Global Energy House, £40-55K

Description

• Responsible for the day to day installation, configuration and maintenance of the Reuters and Bloomberg market data delivery system
• Management and monitoring of the above estate using tools applicable to each
• To provide 2nd and 3rd-line support at the required service level. Where applicable, assist other operations teams to diagnose root cause and rectify problems
• Provide support for network, network security and voice systems

• Administration and maintenance of the Reuters and Bloomberg Market data platform, ensuring there is a consistently high level of service offered to the trading floor, general office and remote sites
• For any incidents that arise perform root cause analysis to identify any enterprise solutions that if implemented would resolve the issue and its root causes. Engage with Design Authority in order that these requirements may feed into the target enterprise solution strategy
• Keep abreast of industry technological developments and identify opportunities to implement new or improved enterprise solutions to provide a more efficient and effective service to the business
• Discuss any potential advancement or any recommendations for new designs and technologies with your manager so that these can be passed to Design Authority and incorporated within the IT Strategy if required
• Ensure the Market Data platform has adequate expansion by undertaking a capacity management process to cater for business growth across all office locations
• Provide support and fully utilise existing technology by implementing best practice to provide advantages to the business
• Engage with Quality Assurance and Design Authority to plan and coordinate the implementation of any upgrades required with the release timetable and target infrastructure solution strategy managed by those teams
• Build on the existing relationships with our vendors and suppliers to establish and implement best practice across the technological estate

• Proven commercial experience as a market data administrator, with a proven track record in the market data industry
• Experience of working in the financial sector (tier 1 investment bank or commodities trading environment)
• Detailed working knowledge of Bloomberg and Reuters user functionality, interoperability and market data infrastructure
• Good understanding of Linux and Windows operating systems
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft office
• Experience with data declaration, licensing, invoice reconciliation and budget maintenance
• Good understanding of Cisco networks infrastructure fundamentals
• LAN security, Cisco Call Manager and BT ITS trading platforms is desirable as the role will progress to cover these technologies
• Experience on communication channels such as ISDN, ADSL and leased line
