Position Description:
We are seeking a QA Analyst to join the technical team. This is an exciting role for a passionate technologist, with a can-do attitude, looking to be part of an outstanding technical team.
The successful candidate will work with directly with the web developers, product managers and content editors to build test plans, communicate status, and ensure the integrity of the product before public release. We are looking for someone who is passionate about technology, product development, and who can thrive in a fast-paced news media & finance organization.
The ideal candidate will have strong problem solving skills and will spend the majority of time executing manual tests and growing our automated test capabilities.
Responsibilities:
- Employ proficient quality assurance skills.
- Automate common QA tests & regression tests across platforms (CMS and publishing tools, web, and mobile applications).
- Increase the efficiency and reduce cycle time of QA tasks.
- Definition and execution of test plans.
- Entering software defects into defect tracking systems.
- Maintenance of the QA lab.
- Development of test cases to ensure that developed software systems meet functional requirements.
- Define and Execute automation and load test scripts/test plans and perform maintenance on those scripts.
- Work closely with software developers to help troubleshoot issues during unit testing.
- Work with Customer Support to help identify and troubleshoot issues reported in the field.
- Coordination with product, editorial, ad operations, and other customer facing groups.
Qualifications:
- College Degree, BS in Computer Science, MIS, Engineering, or equivalent is required.
- Strong troubleshooting skills to be able to discover and reproduce and document software defects in the issue tracking systems.
- Proficient in writing and executing test scripts:
- Experience with a test Scripting tool such as Test Director or Rational preferred
- Experience with automated testing tools such as Mercury tools (WinRunner and QuickTest Pro) or Rational or Quality Center preferred.
- 3+ years QA experience with interactive software systems and Mobile Platforms.
- Strong track record of working with clients to define, plan, and execute an end-to-end test plan from functionality testing, to end-user work flow testing.
- Detail oriented with strong written skills and an ability to work well in a team environment.
- 1-2 years experience Testing Web, Mobile/WAP, and Smart Phone applications.
- Excellent familiarity with consumer and entertainment based computing products including PC hardware, and PC and Mobile operating systems (iOS, Android).
- Strong understanding of web analytics and familiarity with Omniture, Nielsen VideoCensus and Comscore.
- Ability to understand analytics business requirements and how they relate to web analytics technology.
- Comfortable multi-tasking on many projects at a time and work efficiently to complete them.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of Javascript and how to QA in multiple browser environments.
- Knowledge of Agile/Scrum is preferred.
