Messaging Systems Engineer
To provide technical support and continuing improvement of the clients messaging systems, client applications and network infrastructure to enhance stability, client performance and manageability.
While the primary focus will be support of the clients Messaging Systems the role will also require support of all infrastructure systems on an as needed basis.Internal Relationships:

Primary Responsibilities:
- Operational support of all messaging systems
- Assist with Incident, Problem and Change Management, by working to resolve escalated support calls (2nd 3rd level) or critical problems
- Provide regular maintenance and support functions of the clients messaging systems, including system reviews, health checks, application updates and monthly security patching
- Team members are also expected to participate in occasional out of hours support eg critical situations and monthly patch management
- Continue to develop the skill level and knowledge of IT staff in order to provide high quality, effective service to the client.
- Involvement in planning and implementation of Messaging and IT Infrastructure projects
- Development of and adherence to standards, ensuring all documentation is maintained or developed where necessary
- Work with relevant stakeholders to develop strategies and policies that will improve the ability of the Messaging team to deliver a robust, high performing messaging service to the client.
- Ongoing review of messaging systems to cater for changing business needs and new/emerging technologies
Skills/Experience
- Microsoft Exchange certified with a minimum of three years supporting large scale enterprise Messaging systems.
- Microsoft Exchange administration experience of large multi-site environment (1000+ users)
- Experience with Symantec Enterprise Vault for Exchange
- Experience with Blackberry Enterprise Server for Exchange
- Exposure to Lotus Notes and Domino Server administration
- Extensive experience with Microsoft enterprise technologies and systems including Active Directory R2, Group Policy, and Windows Server R2
- Excellent knowledge of Windows XP and Windows 7, Office 2003 and Office 2010, and in particular Outlook 2003 and Outlook 2010
- Strong TCPIP knowledge and thorough understanding of networking principles including subnetting, routing/switching, DNS, DHCP and WINS
- Good understanding of Microsoft Systems Centre technologies including SCOM and SCCM
