My central Government client are looking for an experienced Cost & Productivity Accountant to embark on a 12 month contract in Newport.

Main Duties/Responsibilities

An experienced cost accountant who can deliver classifications, accumulation assignment and control of cost. Providing guidance to managers to understand the importance of measuring performance, determining the cost for shared services delivery and analysing the benefits of any activity or process. This position will enable Shared Services to understand the cost drivers in the business at a more granular level which will help it to become a more cost efficient organisation. This will assist in hitting Government prescribed benchmarking as well as helping to shape the Commercial direction of the organisations.

Outputs/Deliverables to be achieved

Produce cost model for Shared Services identifying clear cost drivers for shared service activity. Standardise transaction reporting and align with defined saleable entities. Drive an understanding of the activity which underpins the NGSS benchmarking allowing Shared Service to react more efficiently in improving performance against these benchmarks. Production of a pricing model (building on the one already developed) and ensuring (with the commercial team) that it is consistently used to win new business. Assist in defining requirements for the new MI solution and ensuring they are built properly in the proposed MI solution. Building knowledge and capability of best practice in the Finance & Performance team, Senior Managers and operational Managers.

Skills/Experience Required
Essential: Significant experience in delivering cost models to drive organisational efficiency. Ability to work at a strategic and tactical level; previous central government experience; Formal qualification required in accountancy.

Formal Qualifications Required

Essential: Qualified accountant, (ACCA) understanding multiple IT systems to deliver MI data.
