Based within the LEA of Birmingham just a 5 minute drive from the city centre, this 11-16 Secondary School are seeking to appoint a Teaching Assistant to support in their Maths Department. This role is a full time, 5 day a week post, to start immediately, until the end of the academic year in August 2013, and will require the successful Teaching Assistant to support pupils both in groups and on a 1-2-1 basis.

As the successful Teaching Assistant you will have excellent Maths skills, an A in Maths at A-Level and a 2:1 degree or higher in Maths. You will be required to work with pupils who require extra support to reach targeted attainment levels and should be confident in your own abilities and able to use your own initiative when required.

In your role as a Teaching Assistant, you will be working directly with the Head of Maths, who will be utilising your specialist degree knowledge to support with pupils across Key Stage 3, 4 & 5.

You will be provided with training, support and the necessary tools you would need in rider to succeed and to make a positive difference within the department and the pupils learning. The Headteacher is fully supportive of all Teaching Assistants, and will make sure the school do everything they can in order to prepare you fully, before embarking on your PGCE or SDS next year.

The school's last Ofsted report in 2012 graded them as 'Outstanding' and praised the overall effectiveness of the school. Exam results have recently been excellent, with the school posting some of the Highest Value Added scores in Birmingham. The Headteacher has a clear vision and ambition for the school to keep developing and establishing itself as a centre of excellence. The school plays an important role in community cohesion at all levels, and possesses a multi-cultural diversity throughout.
