Outsource UK Ltd is actively seeking to recruit for a contract SC Cleared Mechanical Engineer role on behalf of a client.

You will be available for the 11th March, for a 4-5 week contract.

The Client: Working on a secure defence site.

The Job:

The Mechanical Systems Contractor Engineer (Senior Engineer level) is responsible for -

  • Provide the continuity and expertise necessary to support and overhaul the mechanical aspects and RADAR systems. This includes the basic structure and fixings of the respective mechanical systems
  • Assist with the design of modifications and their installation.
  • Prepare specifications for sub-contractor work, obtain quotations and raise Purchase Requests.
  • Maintain the engineering drawing database, prepare engineering drawings using AUTOCAD software, write test and repair procedures, and prepare project plans using MS Project.
  • Supervise and direct the work of the Mechanical assistant.
  • Prepare plans for the annual Radar overhaul, undertake surveys for defects, direct other contractor personnel, strip and rebuild the Radar systems, and prepare and carry out post-overhaul functional testing.
  • Manage the mechanical workshop, train personnel to use power tools and maintain bench stock of consumables

Skills Required:

Essential Qualifications

  • A technical education to the Incorporated Engineer level in relevant mechanical subjects.

Essential Criteria

  • Have a current SC Clearance
  • Metal fabrication and machining processes.
  • The use and knowledge of metal, GRP, protective treatments and adhesive materials.
  • Fastening techniques.
  • Be able to use modern tools and mechanical test equipment.
  • Be IT literate, including a working knowledge of MS Office, MS Project and AUTOCAD 2007.
  • Have experience in the use and management of workshops in compliance with current Health & Safety legislation.
  • Have an understanding of configuration management.
  • Be able to operate and produce vinyl graphics and lettering using OMEGA software
  • Have a good level of oral and written English.
  • Have a working knowledge of a modern computerised stores system
  • Possess a full driving licence, with categories: B, BE, B1, C1, C1E, D1, and D1E.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience of working with the military.
  • Experience of stress/strain analysis of simple mechanical systems.

This is a 1 month contract role to start on the 11th March for 4-5 weeks. The role is commutable from M5, Bath, Salisbury and Weymouth.
