Freelance Web Designer
We are on the lookout for experienced, front-end web designers/developers on a contract or freelance basis to help with several upcoming projects.
Applicants should show top-notch abilities in three core areas:
- A solid sense of design with an understanding of typography and grid-based layouts, with a focus on usability and findability,
- The ability to write semantic, reusable markup for HTML as well as create modular CSS (especially using SASS/SCSS), without the use of a WYSIWYG editor,
- Expertise bringing an experience to life, using libraries such as jQuery, to programmatically animate elements, drive event-driven interactions or utilize DOM elements to add functionality.
In addition to the three core areas, fundamentals in the following areas are expected:
- Experience collaborating with designers, writers, and receiving creative direction
- A general understanding of theming and integrating templates into a CMS (ExpressionEngine, Mezzanine, Django-CMS, Wordpress, etc.) and the ability to learn systems outside your comfort zone is a plus
- The ability to build user flows and goal-driven interactions or the ability to jump right in coding HTML emails for marketing campaigns is even better
- An obvious passion to create great user experiences on the web is paramount to us
- Anyone that demonstrates a high degree of excellence to ensure a project's craftsmanship, from conception to implementation, and reflects thoughtfulness consistently will be shortlisted.
