Progressive IT's client in Reading require a Senior Java Developer for a 6 month contract, starting next week.Essential Skills
* Java J2EE commercial development experience
* SQL database development/administration experience
* HTML
* Spring
* Hibernate
Desirable Skills
* Swing
* JavaFX
The successful candidate will need a fundamental understanding of software development methodologies (SCRUM, waterfall, agile, RUP etc). The candidate should be able to discuss in detail these methodologies, have an awareness of their weak/strong points and be able to compare them and give examples/scenario's on how they are used and how they might be improved and problems that could cause in the day to day development for on shore/off shore development teams.
A fundamental understanding of the software development life cycle and have experience in a development standard such as Prince 2. The candidate needs to have had experience in working on projects that have used a SDLC and they must be able to describe the SDLC in detail and understand how the different software methodologies fit into the SDLC. The candidate needs to be aware how projects are managed and how a Java team leader is expected to interact and manage software within the SDLC.
Web Development - understands web development and web solution architecture and the software characteristics associated with web development and design such as Security technologies, best practice design patterns and web models, scalability, maintainability, communication/presentation frameworks.
